Berkeley Bay Area Alumnae Chapter Scholarship

The Berkeley Bay Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a community service organization of college women, is offering college scholarships to high school seniors in Alameda County. This scholarship is open to all students; however, African American students are the primary focus. Although the emphasis is placed on four-year institutions, applications will be accepted from students who plan to attend a community college for financial reasons. The amount of the award will vary according to the need of the student. The award is intended to supplement other financial resources.

In evaluating applications, consideration will be given to grade point average, leadership ability, and potential for success, financial need, and demonstrated commitment to community/school service. The awards will be distributed upon proof of enrollment in the fall of 2015.

Eligibility Requirements:

1) Student must attend school within Alameda County

2) 3.25 GPA

3) Complete an application and supplemental materials which include:

-Three letters of recommendation (counselor/administrator, teacher, and community person),

-Official transcript

-A typewritten essay stating educational and career goals (500-1500 words)

-A financial statement

-College Board test scores
