The East Bay Consortium provides in-class tutoring for students at two schools in Oakland.
United for Success Academy
Dewey High School.
A college student on staff with the East Bay Consortium is paired with a teacher to serve as a tutor during class time. This provides an opportunity for the teacher to have extra support for the students and for the college students to gain experience in the classroom. In-class tutoring fosters the opportunity for staff to work repeatedly with students thus having greater impact on the student's achievement.
The East Bay Consortium provides after-school tutoring for students at the following schools in Oakland:
Fremont High School
Skyline High School
St. Elizabeth High School
Tutoring at these schools is open to all students. At each site, the service is advertised by the school, and all students are highly encouraged to participate. Students can get help in any subject, including English, math, science, and social studies.
All tutoring sessions are led by East Bay Consortium staff who are current college students.
